Tell us a bit about your business: What does your business offer and how long have you been around?
At
Kingwood Pet Resort, we're all about providing top-notch care for your
furry family members. With roots dating back to 1979 as Kingwood
Kennels, our passion for animals runs deep. Whether your pet needs a
cozy indoor/
outdoor
stay, pampering from our experienced groomer, or personalized attention
in our stay-n-play daycare, we've got you covered. Plus, our innovative
P.A.W.S. Dog training approach ensures a harmonious bond between pets
and their owners, making every interaction a rewarding experience.
How did you decide to get involved in this line of work? How did the business get started?
Our
journey into this line of work was inspired by a family friend who also
happened to be the local veterinarian. They saw the potential in our
land and suggested we build a kennel. Fueled by our entrepreneurial
spirit, my 
parents
laid the foundation for Kingwood Kennels back in 1979, where every
furry guest received the same love and care as our own pets. Fast
forward to Valentine's Day 2023, myself, Jennifer Colmenares, along with
my brother Rome and father Carl, came together to continue the family
legacy, ensuring that pets are cherished and cared for like they're our
own while their owners are away.
Tell us a couple things you are proud of about your business. What are you known for? What separates you from the competition? We
take immense pride in our prime location nestled within 5 acres of the
picturesque Kingwood community, providing a serene and spacious
environment for our furry guests. What truly sets us apart is our
extensive animal expertise, boasting over 120 years of collective
knowledge in animal care. With backgrounds in veterinary medicine and
pioneering initiatives like the Pet Safe program for airlines, we've
consistently set industry standards, ensuring the 
utmost
safety and comfort for every pet entrusted to our care. Since 1979,
we've been honored to serve our community, treating every pet that walks
through our doors as part of our extended family at Kingwood Pet
Resort.
What is your favorite part of running this business? My
favorite part of running this business is undoubtedly the animals!
Growing up, they were our sanctuary, and now, they're at the heart of
everything we do. We're deeply passionate about education, advocating
for holistic lifestyles and sustainability. For me, it's about fostering
that profound connection between humans and animals, which is why I'm
dedicated to transforming how people interact with their pets through my
P.A.W.S. philosophy. It's all about intuitive 
communication,
holistic care, and building a supportive community. At Kingwood Pet
Resort, we believe it truly takes a village to ensure our canine
companions are happy, healthy, and well-mannered.
Who is your target market or ideal client/customer? Our
target market and ideal clients are pet owners who view their furry
companions as cherished members of their family. Whether they're busy

their pets, our services cater to those who prioritize the well-being

How do you see your business growing and improving over the next couple of years?
Although
we just did some serious renovations and gave our facility a facelift,
we’re always striving for excellence! In the next couple of years, we're
excited to expand our services to better cater to our furry guests'
needs, perhaps introducing new enrichment activities and specialized
programs. We'll also focus on staying at the forefront of animal care
technology and fostering community partnerships to support the re-homing
crisis here in Texas. Our goal is to maintain the warm, welcoming
atmosphere that sets us apart while continually improving the quality of
care we provide.
