kimmer : I've never trusted fresh meat from Walmart. A couple of days ago, I took a chance on some nicely sealed, catfish fillets. The freshness date was good, but they had a funny smell when I opened the package. When I attempted to rinse them, they were greasy, and crumbled in my hands. I threw them out, rather than taking a chance of food poisoning. I bought a cooked turkey leg at HEB in Kingwood (not the newest HEB--the one that is now closed). It didn't smell right, but I thought it was from the spices they used. I ate it, and became ill a few hours later. I've purchased low in fat ground beef at the New Caney Kroger, a couple of times, that looked very nice, but did not smell fresh. I believe that someone must have changed the freshness dates. I've never had this type of problem at the Northpark Kroger, thankfully.
@corrina : havent had a problem with walmarts meat except no variety. Then know they have no competition around so it's a we dont care attitude. As for putting a harbor freight there that's another wasted space. There's home depot and the small one on community dr plus they are building an ace hardware on 1314. Idk what they can put there that would be an improvement at this point... but we dont need more fast food crap going in or a business that's a carbon copy of another in the area.
