Your governor hasn't been able to stop the flow of illegal immigrants despite his expensive stunts at the border. The vast majority of those coming across the border are desperate individuals and families fleeing violence or economic distress back home. They immediately turn themselves in to the authorities and request asylum. These people aren't murderers, thugs, or drug dealers; their only crime is illegally entering the U.S. More people are coming than ever before, and more people are being apprehended than ever before.Yes, there are plenty of illegal drugs coming across the border, but they aren't arriving on foot. They're coming through the ports of entry, or flying over the border. Abbot's "enhanced border security" exercise last spring brought cross-border traffic to a crawl and was estimated to have cost the Texas economy about a half-billion dollars a day. Well done, Greg.

@otto : You sure have a handle on the problem, Otto. The Mexicans I know are wonderful, hard working people and are fleeing the Mexican cartels and other crimes in their country, but didn't have the $$$ to buy their way into the states. Others are being financed by foreign gov'ts and even U.S. proponents of NWO. The first I would help if I could, the rest should be deported back to their countries of origin.

@Sweetie : Trump had it mostly closed off but it didn't get finished. It was estimated that if he'd remained in office the entire border wall would have been completed in 3 to 4 weeks.

@otto : CLOSE IT. I should have been closed by the "Federal Gov't" that decided to make it a politcal battle. It is the border of the United States of America, and should be delt with by the United States of America. The fence is a huge deterrent and with law enforcement along with it and drone, etc. it can be closed. It's not impossible! ...if it weren't a political football!!!! @otto @feistyGranny I never said that everyone coming across the border is a criminal. I have neighbors that came here 25 to 30 years ago and are nice as can be, but they still do not speak English and therefore do not meld into society as was intended with legal immigration. I know they are proud of who they are as much as I am, but they have yet to show that they want to be American Citizens, they could have done that long ago, but choose not to. The husband was deported years ago for numerous illegal acts. The vast majority are coming across the border to get free food, free housing, free clothing, free education for their children, ...the land of milk and honey. ...people are being urged to come here through flyers, etc. I wonder where they are getting those from???? They are coming on buses, trucks, etc., Someone is supporting this movement. But they are not the only ones coming across the border. There is crime, human trafficing, criminals, rapists, ...AND OUR ENEMIES. How many millions more do you think this country can afford to care for. Already theft, murders, and violence in general is up by a huge percentage. Not all are the illegals, but a great deal are. The number of crimes committed by illegal immigrants in the United States surged in fiscal year 2021 after declining in the years before that. Homicides, assaults are up by a huge margin, and incidents of domestic violence in Houston alone, which went up from 175 in 2017 to over 800 in 2021, compared to fiscal year 2020. Data from U. S. Customs and Border Protection, as follows, Illegal immigrants committed 1,178 assault and domestic violence crimes in 2021, which represents a more than 400% increase from the 208 in 2020. Sixty homicide or manslaughter convictions were attributed to illegal immigrants in 2021, a 1,900% increase from the previous year. ...and those are just the criminals that were caught.
Yes there are people that would like to escape their situations in their country, but we had horrible situations here in the USA in our history fighting for freedom. America cannot house the entire world population, nor can we support them. That's a fact!!!! ...and we sure can't control illegal acts by anyone when our police forces have been cut back. ...and to be clear, I NEVER said I hated any class of people!!!! Just thought I'd throw that in, just in case anyone wants to accuse me of it! It is not impossible to close the border and you know it!!!!

I thought political crap was supposed to be on the political site and not this one. You are a piece of work and so biased it isn't even funny! @Kacey82 : I agree!! Like I said, we need to finish what Trump started -- BUILD THE WALL COMPLETEY!! No barrier is completely foolproof but the one Trump built had drastically cut down the number of illegals crossing our borders, and curbed much of the trafficking, both in drugs and people. Otherwise, why would Ol' Garland be starting another witch hunt against Trump?? I'd say these demonrats sure are afraid if Trump gets back in he'll continue draining the slimy, filthy swamp that we call our government. He is also exposing the crimes these criminals are committing against the people. It's time the people had their great country back with the flourishing economy that Trump had in place. Strange, but I disliked the man very much when he first stepped into the arena, but I researched him (along with all the other candidates in 2015). And yes, I changed parties and for the first time in my life I voted republican - in 2016, 2018, 2020 and also 2022. I think there's much happening behind scenes that we know nothing about. I also believe NCSWIC!! Nothing!
