Hey yall! My neighbor has fig trees (I think😝) but doesn't know anything about them? Does anyone happen to know this variety, and other than making jelly, what else we can do with them?

They're really good to eat raw. I've never heard of fig jelly, but preserves are good. I've eaten a fig cake, but I think it was made from preserves. My mom used to make preserves that were different, in that she left a lot of liquid in them, and it was kinda like syrup with fruit in it. There was a fig tree in the back yard when we bought this house but it really attracted wasps. Since the grandson is allergic, we took the tree down.

My tree had a few this year too. Same type of fig. The tree is still small.

We used to have a fig tree with figs that went from green to yellow to gold. I bought it from a garden center but I don't remember its variety name right now. Those figs were so good when golden ripe. I might have had three figs that reached perfect ripeness on that tree before crows ate or spoiled them. I still have a very old brown turkey fig tree -- brown turkey is the old reliable variety.

We used to have one as well. They are good to eat straight from the tree.
