On The Park Toy & Candy Store is celebrating a milestone 30 years in the Kingwood community, honoring three decades of toys, candy, family traditions and memories while looking ahead to the store’s next chapter.
The story of On The Park began in 1996 when Fred and Karen opened the original store in Kingwood Town Center. Their vision was about more than filling shelves with toys. They created a neighborhood toy store where families felt welcome, children could discover something new and a simple shopping trip could become a special memory.

Thirty years later, that spirit remains at the heart of On The Park.

Today, the store is owned by Eric and Candice Calderon, who are committed to preserving the history Fred and Karen created while continuing to grow On The Park for a new generation of Kingwood families.
“Taking ownership of a store with this much history means something to us,” said the Calderons. “Fred and Karen created something truly special for this community. We want to honor what they built, keep their memory and the history of On The Park alive, and make sure families can continue creating memories here for many years to come.”
More Than a Toy & Candy Store
While toys and candy will always be at the heart of On The Park, today the store has grown into something much more — a place for families to gather, play, celebrate and make memories together.

On The Park now offers birthday parties, weekly Mommy & Me Story Time, sensory playdates, hands-on activities, seasonal celebrations, special events and more, giving families new reasons to visit throughout the year.

The store's birthday party program has also created another way for On The Park to become part of childhood memories, allowing kids to celebrate their big day surrounded by toys, activities and the excitement of their favorite local toy store.

For owners Eric and Candice Calderon, expanding these experiences is a way to build on the welcoming environment Fred and Karen established 30 years ago while adapting the store for today's families.

To commemorate the milestone, On The Park will host its 30th Anniversary Party on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The free community celebration will include family entertainment, raffles and prizes, free balloons, a trackless train, local vendors and more.

After 30 years, On The Park remains proudly local, proudly rooted in Kingwood and committed to making a visit to the toy store feel just as magical as it should.

Founded in Kingwood, Texas, in 1996, On The Park Toy & Candy Store is an independently owned neighborhood toy and candy store dedicated to creating memorable experiences for children and families. In addition to its selection of toys and candy, On The Park offers children's events, Story Time, sensory activities, birthday parties, seasonal celebrations and other experiences designed to bring families and the community together.
