I'm sure we've all heard stories of accidents that happened
right in front of someone, or thought "man, if I would have been in that
area just a few minutes earlier, that could have been me." Typically
after seeing an accident, you start thinking about the "could have been
me" scenario, and there is a flood of other emotions and thought trails
that come after that. Most of them include thankfulness and gratitude
that it WASN'T you, or how much you cherish your family, or wondering
what happened to the person involved and THEIR family.
But
what about when you are just 5 minutes too late with your health? One
minute you're feeling vibrant and healthy and the next thing you know
you're in an ER with lungs full of blood because your heart is failing!
What do you do now? What insurance do you carry? Or better yet.... you
didn't think you needed insurance because let's face it, the money you
would've spent in a premium was better used somewhere else over the
last decade and YOU FEEL FINE!
Unfortunately
this happens all the time and I personally have lived this scenario.
It's a devastating blow to go through the pain and reality check of
losing your health, but when you're not set up with a plan for the "just
in case", it's even harder. Not to mention, hard on the ones who now
have to care for you. Most of the time that includes someone taking a
pay cut or losing their job altogether to be available when you need
them. Again... this was my life.
I have
dedicated my career now to helping people get in a position that they
don't have to mirror those trials quite as bad. I mean, learn from
those around you, right? No insurance plan is going to be picture
perfect and it typically doesn't play out the way the movies and shows
make it seem. But walking away with way less financial strain because
you took the steps necessary now, to protect this risk in the future, is
huge. I was widowed at 41 and lack of insurance in our lives played a
huge factor in my husband's health and eventually lead to his death.
This won't be everyone's story, but if you are playing with the same
year-over-year game with yourself and not getting a good health plan in
place, let me help you. It only takes one time, one call, one hospital
visit, and your world will never be the same. Remember, you are only
healthy, until you're not.
