Friendswood Development Company, which is best known for developing some of Houston’s signature master-planned communities including Fairfield and Kingwood, will host the fifth annual Tavola Reindeer Run, with race presenting sponsors being Lennar and Storm Water Solutions/Beyer Construction, in its community of Tavola, located in New Caney, TX on Saturday, December 4th.
The chip-timed, USATF-certified course will include a 5k beginning at 8 am and a 1K family run/walk beginning at 9 am The race will also feature family-friendly holiday activities and attractions including free photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus, a rock-climbing wall, a giant snow globe which families go inside and get a photo taken in, as well as free food and a gourmet coffee and hot chocolate bar. Proceeds from this year’s race will benefit New Caney ISD’s Tavola Elementary, which sits on-site in the community. There will also be a $2,500 donation to the New Caney ISD School Campus with the most participants.
“We are so excited to have Reindeer Run continue this year after not being able to put on the race in 2020, due to COVID-19. We definitely missed being able to provide the New Caney community with our annual holiday tradition, but we are back and better than ever,” said Michael Johnson, Vice President of Friendswood Development Company. “At Tavola Reindeer Run everyone is welcome to join in on the festive fun, whether you’re a runner or cheering on your fellow neighbors from the sidelines,” he added.
Lauren Kelly with KPRC Channel 2’s Houston Life will serve as the race’s on-site emcee. All participates will receive a Tavola Reindeer Run long-sleeve t-shirt, a goodie bag, and a finisher medal. Top female and male finishers in each age category will be presented with awards and the overall top female and male runners will each receive $100. The post-race party will feature prize drawings for non-runners and a $100 prize for the most festive holiday costume.
