Valley Ranch Jugging Incident Leads to 4 Arrests 
Multiple agencies responded today after a reported jugging incident that ended near the Valley Ranch area. Units from Montgomery County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Texas DPS, Splendora Police Department and New Caney ISD Police quickly converged on the scene. The situation began when a 911 caller reported that a male suspect followed him from a local bank, broke into his vehicle and stole cash once he arrived at his destination. Officers located the suspect vehicle and initiated a pursuit that ended behind Citizen’s Bank near Valley Ranch. The suspect then ran into a nearby wooded area. Pct. 4’s Drone Team and K9 units, along with a Sheriff’s Office drone, searched the dense woods. While scanning the area, operators located individuals at a nearby apartment complex walking the tree line and appearing to search for someone. A coordinated effort among all agencies led to locating the original suspect as he exited the woods. He was taken into custody and is now with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. Further investigation resulted in three additional arrests connected to attempts to assist the fleeing suspect:
• Anya Washington, 21, Houston – Attempted Hindering Apprehension (Class A Misdemeanor), drug-related charges and several Class C warrants
• Emmit Motton, 19, Houston – Attempted Hindering Apprehension (Class A Misdemeanor)
• Walter Shepherd, 17, Houston – Attempted Hindering Apprehension (Class A Misdemeanor) and drug-related charges Constable Kenneth “Rowdy” Hayden said that coordinated efforts like today’s show how seriously Montgomery County takes crime and public safety. He noted that those who come to the area to commit crimes—including jugging or drug-related offenses—can expect to go to jail. All individuals arrested or charged are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

Bloom : I try to always be aware of my surroundings year around but this time of year....borders on paranoia. Even if I get cash at the drive thru bank. I watch the vehicles behind me when I leave to see if they are following me.
Cbear : Same. This isn't an example of jugging, but it's certainly the time of year to be aware of our surroundings. My former coworker and her family went shopping at Deebrook Mall a few years back. They were in a car and as they bought things they locked them in their trunk before continuing. After they were finished shopping, they decided to get a bite to eat for lunch. While they were eating, someone busted their window, popped the trunk and stole 100's of dollars of gifts they purchased for Christmas. Clearly they were being watched & followed. 😱 Just a reminder to be VERY aware of your surroundings... you just never know. 😔

MsMuffet : That is a terrible story..those poor folks! I detest the Mall. It has been unsafe for years. First they lose all the gifts and then...have to repair to have their vehicle repaired. Rrrrrr. I hate theives!

NewCaneyDotCom : If this was this past Wednesday, I saw the police presence and drones surrounding the area. They had it locked up. The police officer operating the drone was at intersection of 59 and 99. They had guns out. We scooted on by but knew something bad was going on! « Back to Chat
