Stolen Skid Steers Recovered After Theft Arrest in New CaneyA 24-year-old man was arrested after two skid steers were allegedly stolen from a work site along FM 2090 on August 31st, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office. Investigators said the equipment had been left overnight while crews performed work for TxDOT. The owner reportedly received motion alerts and used GPS trackers to follow one of the machines as it traveled southbound on US 59.Woodbranch Police located the vehicle hauling the equipment, and MCSO deputies later confirmed the skid steer had allegedly been taken without permission. Authorities identified the driver as Caleb Dardar and charged him with felony theft. MCSO also said Dardar had an outstanding Harris County felony warrant for Aggravated Robbery.Investigators later learned a second skid steer was allegedly stolen from the same site. That machine was transported into Harris County and later recovered by Houston Police. The truck and trailer used to move the equipment were taken to the Montgomery County Auto Theft Task Force as investigators work to determine whether they were also stolen. The investigation remains ongoing.All charges, warrants and allegations are accusations unless proven in court.
