Some fun facts about oranges and lemons :

An orange is actually a type of berry.

An orange tree can grow to reach 30 feet and live for over a hundred years.

The Washington Navel Orange tree that helped start the California citrus industry is still standing and producing fruit in Riverside, California.

Contrary to what most of us think, oranges were not named for their color. Instead, the word orange comes from a transliteration of the sanskrit “naranga,” which means “fragrant.”

Lemons, like oranges, are technically berries.

Lemons are a hybrid between a sour orange and a citron.

Lemons trees can produce up to 600 lbs of lemons every year.

California and Arizona produce 95% of the entire lemon crop.
