Repeat Theft Offender Arrested at New Caney Walmart
Precinct 4 Deputies responded to a Theft In-Progress at the New Caney Walmart where a male was being combative with loss prevention associates, before taking the merchandise and running away without paying. Deputies located the male getting into a vehicle in the parking lot and were able to get him and three other individuals in the vehicle detained. During the investigation, the male involved in the theft showed to have numerous convictions for theft and was subsequently placed in custody for felony Theft. A second male on location showed to have an active misdemeanor warrant out of Montgomery County and an active Criminal Trespass Warning for the Walmart. That male was ultimately placed in custody for his warrant, and earned himself a new charge of Criminal Trespass.

Hope they stayed locked up for a while. They need to learn that Montgomery County does not play with criminals.

Being a former Walmart employee I know there are many many many more getting out the door with hundreds of dollars of merch without any repercussions and also people who work there being watched for as so much as a pack of gum. Would be great to have efforts allocated to the department based on the dollar amount of loss reported. Kuddos to the associates who noticed the issue to begin with. We were not "customer service" employees, we felt like "Walmart police". It was hard to be identified as an employee who provided excellent customer service by managers and customers both. I felt like I was more known for things I didnt do verses all the money I made for the company. My 2nd year I never heard of these "bonuses" that were always talked about till the end of 2024 I earned a "bonus" but couldn't get it till 2025 and never really got the bonus because I was terminated in Jan 2025 after over 3 years of service. The associates that initiated the concern regarding these thieves should be given recognition for going above and beyond the scope of the job description. It is a whole different level of expertise involving asset loss prevention verses the roll of assisting customers in the check out process. Good job catching them in the parking lot as it is a rare thing. Working in the evening there isn't as much sense of urgency nor authorized personnel to perform appropriate measures like this instance when I was working there. We recorded so many things in those binders that just sat for weeks in the book that fell on deaf or absent ears.
