Multi-Agency Pursuit Ends in Arrest of Suspect in Online Solicitation of a Minor Case - Media Release - 7/25/2025

Earlier on Friday, a suspect wanted for online solicitation of a minor led deputies on a lengthy, multi-county pursuit that began in East Montgomery County and ended in San Jacinto County.

The incident originated near the movie theater in the Valley Ranch shopping district in New Caney, Texas, where the suspect fled from law enforcement. The pursuit crossed through multiple jurisdictions—starting in Montgomery County Pct. 4, entering Pct. 3, then circling back through Pct. 4 and continuing northbound on U.S. Highway 59 through Liberty County before reaching San Jacinto County. The pursuit came to a stop at the dead end of Redbud Lane in Shepherd, Texas.

Upon exiting his vehicle, the suspect—identified as Raul Alcantaria, 29, of Conroe, TX—fired a weapon toward deputies. A deputy from another agency returned fire. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Alcantaria then fled into the wooded area on foot.
A Liberty County Sheriff's Office drone team successfully located the suspect hiding in the woods. Alcantaria was ordered to surrender and was taken into custody without further incident.

Alcantaria is currently facing the following charges in Montgomery County:

• Online Solicitation of a Minor (Felony – $500,000 bond)
• 2 counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (Felony)
• Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle (Felony)
• An active Montgomery County warrant for Failure to Appear – original charge: Assault Family Violence (Misd.)

Additional charges are expected from Liberty County and San Jacinto County as the investigation continues.

Constable Rowdy Hayden would like to thank the following agencies for their coordinated efforts during the pursuit and investigation: Montgomery County Pct. 2 Constable, Montgomery County Pct. 3 Constable’s Office, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Humble Police Department, Splendora Police Department, Houston Police Department Air Support, Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office, Shenandoah Police Department, Montgomery County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, Texas Rangers, Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, San Jacinto County District Attorney’s Office, San Jacinto Office of Emergency Management, Shepherd Police Department, and Shepherd ISD Police Department.

“This is another example of what can be accomplished when multiple agencies across multiple counties work together,” said Constable Hayden. “There is no higher priority than protecting children from online predators. I’m proud of our deputies and every agency that assisted today in bringing this dangerous suspect into custody.”

@Cbear @DixieDee :
We tend to take our lawn enforcement officers for granted. But when you think about it, their lives are in danger every day, not knowing what they might face. May God bless them and their families for their service.

We have a deputy with a young family in our church family. Seeing him with his wife & kids has really made an impression on me. I cannot imagine a mom sending off the father of her children everyday to fight the bad guys

@Bloom : How touching. It takes alot of strength to be married or even involved with someone in those professions. Firefighters too.

@DixieDee : Amen. They put their life on the line every single day. I cannot imagine the stress of having a family member in this kind of work. Maybe they get used to it.

So glad they got this guy off the street. With a $500,000 bond he may not be getting out anytime soon. He should never get out.
