Suspect in custody and more charges to follow.

On May 29, 2023, Officers were patrolling the area of FM 2090, When the officer observed a female running down the roadway crying and screaming for help. The officer relocated the female to further the investigation and get the victim proper medical attention. The female stated that she was locked in the loft of 14461 Cox Street which is an abandoned building. Officers learned the suspect had been arrested just a few days prior to this assault in Liberty County for Assault Family Violence, the suspect decided to meet with the victim and asked to speak with her and wanted to apologize. When they made it to the top of the loft, the suspect pushed her down and physically assaulted the victim. The suspect then got on top of the victim and held his hand over the victim’s mouth making it difficult for the victim to breathe. The Suspect then picked up a piece of board, striking the victim several times. The suspect told the victim that he would kill the victim if she would scream. The suspect then left the loft and knocked down the stairs preventing the victim from escaping. The victim was able to find a hole in the roof and was able to jump down and run towards safety. After gathering all the details, Officers went to the abandoned building where the suspect was located and quickly taken into custody without incident.
