From Splendora Police Department:
CIU Strikes Again!!!
On November 26, the Splendora Criminal Interdiction K9 Units were on patrol in the area of US Highway 59 near Fostoria Rd. While on patrol they observed a wrecked vehicle that was unoccupied. Officers located two males just down the road from the vehicle and learned they were involved with the vehicle. During an investigation one male was found to be in possession of two firearms, one of the firearms had a modified switch on it, which made the firearm fully automatic which is a Federal crime. The same male was a convicted felon and currently on bond out of Harris County. The other male was also found to be in possession of multiple checks that belonged to different people. The amount of money of the checks was totaled out to be approximately $50,000. It was later learned that the checks were stolen from a burglarized mail box in Longview Texas. All stolen checks were recovered and the owners were contact.….. wait it gets better!!! The vehicle that was wrecked was also freshly stolen out of Houston and was reported stolen 5 MINUTES after officers made contact with the males. The vehicle was recovered and will be returned to the rightful owner! Needless to say this investigation took some time! Both males were placed in custody for multiple felony charges and transported to the Montgomery County Jail without incident! Great work to our Criminal Interdiction Unit!!
