MCAS Foster Open House PAW-TY 6/25/22

Who is ready to PAW-TY?!

Come join MCAS on Saturday 6/25/22 for a Foster Open House and Volunteer Appreciation Party!

If you are looking for ways to get involved this is the perfect time to do so. Staff will be on hand to answer ALL your fostering and volunteering questions. There will also be snacks, party games, and drawings for awesome prizes. Some of the prizes include Starbucks gift cards, dog bowls, a duffle bag full of animal related items, and TWO 16x20 oil paintings by PerfectPetures (check them out at www.perfectpetures.com).

We would love to see all of our registered volunteers and foster families so we can say "Thank you!" in person.
MCAS is teaming up with national nonprofit Petco Love , Sketchers with its BOBS from SKECHERS philanthropic footwear collection, and Ben & Jerry's to put the focus on the fun in fostering pets. Pet fostering is lifesaving and critical for animal shelters particularly during the busy summer season.

I know Foster's are needed everywhere. Wish I had land to take more in. Just not enough fosters

Look at this boy - being promoted by them because he's now a long-timer and they say they're going to have to make hard decisions soon. His owner died; he's been in shelter since December and apparently was very timid, a little less so now. 5 year old Akita mix. I bet he'd come along fast once into a home rather than at the shelter.

@garfieldgurl : It'll be a long time before I'm looking for a dog again, but at that time definitely will prioritize dogs that lost their owners to death or nursing homes. Poor critters.

@garfieldgurl : For sure. Losing their person, then their home and their security. I understand a lot of people can't take on animals, and a lot of people don't have surviving relatives or friends that could help, but still it's extra rough when those pets can't get in to a new home. I bet those are some of the best dogs too.

A heeler whose owner had died popped up just a couple weeks after I'd gotten Ranger, old enough to be settled but plenty of years left, smart and well trained, etc. I did mention to Ranger (who was younger than I'd been looking for) a time or two that he was really lucky his petfinder listing was posted first

(The dog did get a new home promptly, luckily.)
