Did you know in 80 percent of fire incidents, a fire extinguisher is all that's necessary to put out the fire in the incipient (growth) stage? The use of a fire extinguisher can make the difference between minor and major fire damage. That's why East County Fire thinks it's important that every home has an extinguisher and is giving away 104 dry chem fire extinguishers.
The requirements to be eligible to receive one are as follows:
- 1 per household
- Must live inside MCESD7 territory
- Must sign a waiver when receiving one
- Must pick up at fire station 151 between Monday-Thursday 8am-5pm (19870 FM-1485, New Caney, 77357)
"These extinguishers are fully charged, ready to go, and inspected. A quick instruction from firefighters will be given using the PASS method. These extinguishers are made possible through a generous donation from a local business. Stop by and get your extinguisher before they are gone."
