Whether it's a 20-year-old television or last year's cell phone, declutter and recycle those electronics at the East Montgomery County Improvement District's annual Electronics Recycling Event on Saturday, September 7.

Held in the EMCID Complex Parking Lot from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m., CompuCycle will unload your items, separate them and haul them back to their facility to recycle. The event is open to everyone and is free.
EMCID's Board of Directors decided to bring back this popular event from last year, which collected enough items to fill two large tractor trailers.
"We know many waste companies do not accept some of these items, so our gadgets of years past are filling up our closets, garages and attics," said Frank McCrady, EMCID President and CEO. "By offering this event to the community, we're all doing our part to clean up our homes and keep these items from ending up in a field or landfill somewhere."

ACCEPTED:

Computers, monitors, laptops, hard drives, keyboards and mice, cables and cords, printers, cell phones, CRT TVs up to 27" in size (no wooden-cased TVs), LCD, LED, and plasma TVs up to 50" in size, stereo amplifiers, VCRs, ipads/tablets

NOT ACCEPTED:

Refrigerators, stoves, washers, dryers, microwaves, freezers, irons, air conditioners, rice cookers, space heaters, floor lamps, fans, radios, and stereos, vacuum cleaners, dehumidifiers, light bulbs, oil waste, hazardous materials, speakers, media DLT tapes, cassette tapes, CD Roms, VHS tapes, thumb drives, thermostats, smoke alarms, paint, medical/biohazard waste, solar panels, batteries, such as Alkaline AA, AAA, C, D, 9V, hearing aids, watches.

For questions concerning acceptable and unacceptable items, call CompuCycle at 713-869- 6700.

Thanx for the heads-up. I've got several items I'll be dropping off.

Question: "stereo amplifiers" are OK, but "radios and stereos" are not? Where do they draw the line?

I double-checked with 'em. Yes stereo amps, equalizers, home theater receivers are **acceptable**. Your old table-top radio and/or stereo phonograph is not welcome.

[This post should also bring it back toward the top of the listings.]
