According to reports from MCSO, on December 16, 2018, at about 9:00 AM, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office was investigating a burglary of a motor vehicle that occurred at a residence in the 24700 block of Hayden Road in Splendora.

When Deputies arrived, they met with the victim who advised that when he walked outside his residence he saw a Hispanic male standing at the rear of his vehicle. As the victim approached the Hispanic male he immediately walked off. When the victim looked inside his vehicle he observed his wedding ring was missing and then called the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.

Based on the information provided, a Montgomery County Sheriff's Deputy was checking the area for possible leads on the burglary suspect. While the deputy was in the area, a theft of vehicle (truck and trailer) was dispatched nearby in the 14200 block of Morgan Drive in Splendora. The Deputy located the stolen vehicle just blocks away stuck in the mud.

When the Deputy arrived, he observed two adult males standing near the vehicle and both were detained. During the investigation, the deputy searched a male identified as Larry Lyles (28, Splendora) and found the previously stolen wedding ring in his pants pocket. Also during the investigation, deputies discovered other reported stolen items in the vehicle...multiple firearms, power tools and construction equipment.

As a result of the investigation, Larry Lyles was taken into custody on a State of Texas Parole Warrant, unlawful possession of firearm by a felon, burglary of a building, theft of firearm, unauthorized use of motor vehicle (two charges) and burglary of vehicle.

The second subject was found not to be involved and was released.

Sheriff Henderson stated, "Thank you to the citizens who observed something suspicious and reported it. As a community we can do more and go further working together to solve problems. Our Deputies did a great job thoroughly investigating these crimes and this suspect. Due to their investigation they ultimately recovered a lot of stolen property and placed this criminal behind bars where he belongs."
