The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, along with help from local businesses and residents, are ready yet again to give some area children an extra happy Christmas through Operation Blue Elf.
Just like previous years of Operation Blue Elf, local businesses and residents have answered the call and showed what being a Texan and a resident of Montgomery County is all about. On December 12, 2018, Sheriff Rand Henderson and his staff, with the help of Woodforest National Bank, Wal-Mart and many community partners and citizens, purchased toys and bikes from Wal-Mart.
Thanks to the generous monetary donations by so many, Operation Blue Elf volunteers were able to purchase toys and gifts needed to complete children's Christmas shopping wish list. At the end of the day, thousands of gifts and over 400 bikes were purchased for Montgomery County children in need this Christmas. Through the next week, Operation Blue Elf volunteers will be wrapping toys and filling Santa's bag for a Santa's Wonderland event to be held next week!
Sheriff Rand Henderson states, "I am amazed but not surprised by the generosity and compassion of the citizens and businesses in Montgomery County. The goodness of the human spirit is alive in Montgomery County and I am proud to be a part of this event and am proud of all the volunteers of Operation Blue Elf. Montgomery County is blessed to have so many wanting to help those who are in need. As your Sheriff, we will continue to serve our community with a servant heart and a giving spirit."
