We've all heard rumors for years about us getting our own HEB here in East Montgomery County…And now that attractive piece of gossip has officially become truth.

According to Cyndy Garza Roberts with the Houston division of Public Affairs for H-E-B, land for a new store has been purchased here in East Montgomery County by the Texas-based grocery giant.

With a close location just 10 minutes down the road towards 45 and another in Kingwood, most people (including myself) thought it would never happen for us. I guess HEB decided we are growing enough to have our own. Emoticon

Now I know y'all are going to ask where our new store is going to be built. And trust me…I'm just as curious as you are. But to my disappointment, HEB wouldn't confirm the exact address of the new location. However, there are a lot of indicators that it's coming to the southwest corner of 99 (Grand Parkway) and FM 1314. Local businesses near there have told myself and other residents that's where HEB is going to be. Land is also feverishly being cleared right now in that area, so there seems to be some validity to what they're saying. Hopefully HEB will confirm their location very soon so we know where to be watching.

HEB released no timetable for when we can expect the new store to open as they are right now just in the very early stages of the project. And on that same note, all we know for sure is that HEB has purchased land here in East Montgomery County. HEB also owns Mi Tienda and Joe V's. Not to say it'll be one of those instead, but it's not completely out of the realm of possibility. We will keep y'all updated whenever HEB releases more information.

Are you looking forward to having an HEB right here in EMC? I know I am! Emoticon

Why can't it be in New Caney somewhere???
There is already an HEB just a few miles down from there.

Surely they would plan this better and build in an area where New Caney residents can access it easily. If not, I guess Krogers will still be king and I will be very disappointed.

If it does go there at 1314 and 99, the traffic on 1314 will be even worse, so you'll have to pick the right time of day to go...

It IS easily accessible from New Caney. You just take Valley Ranch Road to 1314 and come on over. What are you crying about? It's literally 5 more minutes down the road.

Used to be an H E B store in Porter in what is now Goodwill! Hopefully this new one won't be a small convenience store type like Cleveland!! I'm looking forward to it!!

Of course, they would have to buy an undeveloped tract of land, cut all the vegetation down, instead of trying to find a suitable structure already built and existing....ie the old Sam's Club

@B.Justice : pretty sure Kroger has it in their lease at Valley Ranch for no other grocers in Valley Ranch. Besides, HEB does not lease any buildings, which they would have to do at the old Sam's. Every store of theirs that you see, they OWN that property.
