PCT 4 gets a couple of thieves off the streets and stolen property returned to the owners.
Monday (6/5/17) night around 8pm, a Pct. 4 deputy was investigating a suspicious vehicle that was occupied by 2 white males in the area of Fostoria Rd and Morgan Cemetery Road in Cleveland. The suspicious vehicle ended up being a 2016 Kia that was stolen out of Montgomery County.
As deputies attempted to make contact with the two white males, they fled the location and into nearby woods. With assistance from the Splendora Police Department, the Roman Forest Police Department and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office a perimeter was established. Both Constable Rowdy Hayden and Chief Deputy Barry Welch made the scene and began to assist. A few hours later both males were located and detained. Inside the vehicle deputies located several stolen firearms, tools, a machete, an axe, a bolt cutter, several needles and other property, some of which was from a fresh burglary of a residence on Crossno Drive in Cleveland, TX.
Thomas Barringer, 26 years of age from Livingston, TX has been charged with Burglary of a Habitation, a second degree felony, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, a state jail felony and Evading Arrest/Detention, a class A misdemeanor.
Kevin Caldwell, 22 years of age from Conroe, TX has been charged with Burglary of a Habitation, a second degree felony, Evading Arrest/Detention w/ a Prior Conviction, a state jail felony, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, a third degree felony.
Constable Hayden thanked the surrounding agencies that came to help locate the criminals, as well as his own deputies for relentlessly working the streets, listening to the complaints of the residents in the area and following every possible lead available.
“Hard work pays off," said Constable Hayden. "Two known criminals are now in jail, stolen guns are off the street, a local resident had property returned from a recent burglary and someone is going to get their car back...Overall, a very good night and a job well done!”
