New Deisgn for Texas Temporary License Plates Launches December 9, 2022
From the Splendora Police Department:
***PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT*** A new design for Texas temporary vehicle tags will be issued for use beginning December 9, 2022. The redesigned Texas temporary tags are more complex and secure than the existing design and include numerous additional data points and security features to facilitate law enforcement identification of counterfeit tags. A sample of the tag components include:
Printed over a Texas flag watermark Highlights the expiration date of the tag Identifies the specific type of tag issued Identifies the vehicle year and make Identifies the issuing dealer Font selection and size maximizes readability of primary components Includes both active and passive security features identifiable by law enforcement Includes numerous pieces of embedded data and text, linked to law enforcement databases, that can be created only by internal TxDMV computer systems new temporary tag design

It's about time. I love this it's going to be much easier for them to spot it because it going to be in bold print and have the model and year of car on it . I'd like to know if they ever arrested any of these crooks for selling the temporary tags
@TownHubAdmin : Judging from the number of expired registration windshield stickers, it appears law enforcement doesn't pay much attention to vehicle registrations. I'm not at all sure that the new temporary tag design will solve any problems.

@otto : I'm surprised it took them so long to crack down on the system that allowed so many illicit tags to be issued via the system, even without any counterfeiting. I bet pulling over all cars with the previous style tags starting at the last date that version would be good could yield some interesting results. That'll be far more visible to a patrol person with a bit of spare time than the windshield stickers.
