New Caney: Liberty County Deputy Shoots Armed Suspect After Pursuit in Colony RidgeA 38-year-old man was seriously injured early Saturday morning, August 22nd following a deputy-involved shooting in the Colony Ridge area of Liberty County, according to the Liberty County Sheriff's Office. LCSO said the incident began around 2:45 AM near CR 5109 and CR 5100, where a deputy encountered a vehicle reportedly stopped in the roadway. Authorities said the vehicle allegedly drove away as the deputy approached, leading to a pursuit that continued for several miles before ending at a residence.According to investigators, the driver exited the vehicle with a firearm in his hand and allegedly posed a threat to the deputy. The deputy then fired his weapon, striking the man. The suspect was airlifted to a hospital in serious condition. The deputy was not injured. LCSO said a firearm believed to belong to the man was recovered at the scene. Authorities also said the man had outstanding felony warrants, though additional details have not yet been released. A second person was reportedly inside the vehicle at the time of the incident. The Texas Rangers are assisting with the investigation, along with the Liberty County District Attorney's Office. Splendora Police and the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office also responded to assist.The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation. Allegations and warrant information have not been proven in court.
