New Caney ISD Approves $244 Million Budget and Lower Tax Rate for 2026-27
New Caney ISD trustees have approved a balanced budget for the 2026-2027 fiscal year, with about $243.87 million in both revenue and spending. The largest portion of the budget, approximately $141.53 million, is allocated to instruction, which includes employee wages. The district is also budgeting about $22.12 million for facility maintenance and operations and $13.65 million for school leadership.
Trustees also approved a total tax rate of $1.2393 per $100 of property value, down from the current rate of $1.2552. District documents indicate the median homeowner could see a slightly lower annual NCISD tax bill despite a modest increase in median home values. Actual tax bills can still vary depending on property values, exemptions and appraisal changes. The new budget represents an increase of about $9.37 million compared with the district's originally adopted 2025-2026 general fund budget.
