I love avocados however I waste a lot of money on what turns out to be bad avocados. You can not freeze avocados. I guess some store produce people do not know this.
You purchase some avocados that are rock hard and not ripe. You wait for them to ripen. They never ripen correctly. They go from rock hard to rotten overnight. If you cut one open early you find black yucky avocado meat. That means that somewhere during Transit they are no longer refrigerated but were frozen. Freezing avocados doesn't work. I have waited a lot of money on avocados to the point where I go along periods of time without buying any. You hear about tricks like putting the avocados in a brown bag to ripen but that will not work on a avocado that has been frozen.
Several weeks ago Kroger had a super deal on super large avocados. I bought a bunch of them. They had been frozen at some time. Not one of them ripen correctly. I don't waste my time driving back to the supermarket with a bag of rotten tomatoes trying to get my money back. Not my style. I guess that makes me a dumb idiot but I just don't want to deal with it. Am I the only one having difficulty getting good avocados and New caney ? Walmart has good prices on avocados whoever half the time they are not good. They don't ripen correctly. Other times I go to Walmart and have a big mountain of rotten avocados that when you try to pick them up your fingers smoosh into them. They should not even be on display. An experiencing an avocado bummer.

I agree, and it's frustrating. I tend to just buy the in-house guacamole at HEB now. They have a product that I haven't tried that is individual servings, and I believe it's just plain avocado. It's refrigerated and near the raw chicken fajitas. I plan to try it soon.

I do not like avocados unless they have been turned into guac by a professional. When I am forced by my spouse to buy a fresh avocado, I ask the older produce people I recognize to pick a couple for me. They have always got me good ones that do not need to be returned.
I agree I like them a lot. I don't like when they turn at all either. I haven't been eating as much of late. When I did keto years ago I used to eat one for lunch often and just add something like a little Old Bay on it
