Have a lot of ferrel cats that hang around my place. Would county animal control come and take them? They run away if you try to grab them.

@jcglobal99 :
I didn't know the answer to your question, but was curious, so I Googled if Montgomery County animal control would pick up feral cats. The link below explains the answer. Basically, it sounds like it's a trap, neuter, return ordinance. Sounds to me like they would return them after they're neutered. Someone else may have more input, but this is what I found online.

@Bloom , toward the end of last year the county ran out of funds for the trap-neuter-release program. I don't know if it's active again.

@otto : So, are you aware if they would pick them up at all?

@Bloom : Not certain. Dw has trapped 'em and driven them to the animal shelter in The Woodlands. They require an advance appointment. That's not very handy if you've just managed to trap a feral cat.

They will pick up the cats, they spay or neuter them and return them back where they found them. I actually called them about some cats around me and they were gone for a couple of days then they were back.

@Cbear : I'm sure! Almost every day, I see posts about someone needing to re-home a pet. It seems folks start out with good intentions and then realize they either can't afford it or don't have time for a pet.
