Suspect Arrested After Injuring Deputy and Fleeing Scene in Dangerous Nighttime Pursuit

In the early hours of Sunday, April 7th, a Deputy from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle on Sorters Rd. due to a traffic violation. This led to a pursuit, during which a Deputy from the Office of Constable Kenneth “Rowdy” Hayden joined in support.

The pursuit continued through the Kingwood Drive, Northpark Drive, and onto Highway 59. The suspect's red Camaro then collided with a Pct. 4 Deputy's vehicle near the FM 1314 exit on Highway 59. The impact sent the Deputy's vehicle airborne, causing it to leave the roadway and crash into an embankment, resulting in the vehicle being totaled. The Camaro also struck a telephone pole before the suspect fled on foot.

A K9 unit from the Houston Police Department assisted in the search but the suspect remained at large. Constable Hayden organized a comprehensive search operation later that morning. With a strategic plan in place; Pct. 4 Deputies hit the street and had the suspect, identified as 18-year-old Zair Alejandro of Porter, TX, in custody in less than an hour.

Alejandro is now facing charges of felony evading arrest in a motor vehicle, with an additional outstanding felony warrant for a similar offense from Harris County, TX.

The Deputy sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Constable Hayden stated, “Now is the time for Zair for face the consequences of his actions.” and extended his thanks towards the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Houston Police Department for their support during the incident.
