Authorities are investigating the alleged attempted abduction of a young Splendora ISD student after school on Tuesday.

Here is the latest info from Splendora ISD Police Chief Evans:

"Most of you by now, should have received notice from the District Communications Office, notifying you of a very serious incident which occurred at approximately 5:30 this evening (Tuesday, January 15) near the intersection of Midline and Fostoria Roads.

We received a report of a person attempting to lure and possibly abduct an elementary age student who had just departed one of our school buses to go home.

I along with Officer Minchew, Officer Johnson and Officers from the City of Splendora Police Department responded. After ensuring the victim was uninjured, we proceeded to the last known location of the suspect.

This location is a nearby abandon home and property, apparently being used for narcotics activity. There were no locks on the door. The home and property were in disrepair.

In the course of checking the property I located and detained one suspect and, very shortly thereafter a second suspect was also detained. Both men have been charged with a Class C misdemeanor charge for the time being. However, the investigation continues and additional much more serious charges, may soon be forthcoming.

It should be noted, above all things, the victim in this case was uninjured and did EXACTLY what she should have done. She fled away from the person attempting to lure her and began yelling for help. And, neighbors immediately came to her aid. I cannot stress enough, it is so important to talk to you children about the fact that there are not some so good people in this world and if they are ever in trouble they need to run and yell for help. It can save their lives. Just like it did tonight. A true testament to how good the majority of folks here in Splendora, really are. People stepped up and stepped in to make sure this little girl was not harmed and help was on the way.
Friends, I cannot thank you all enough for your support of this District and the Police Department. We could not do what we do without the support of our Superintendent, School Board and above all....YOU." ~ www.facebook.com/SIS DPD/
