Deputies with Constable Mark Herman's Office responded to Jesse Jones Park located at 20634 Kenswick Drive in reference to a missing kayaker on 6/27/22.

The reportee advised he kayaked with a friend at Mercer Park and got separated on the creek. He made it to Jesse Jones Park at the intended exit point and had not seen his friend for over 2 hours.

With the assistance of DPS air support, the lost kayaker was located approximately 1 mile past IH59 in the San Jacinto River. He was in good condition but was unfamiliar with the creek system and had gotten lost.

When kayaking, make sure you have a plan, stay with others in your party, and have plenty of water to drink!

@TownHubAdmin : He was fortunate to be fund so quickly. With this heat, this story could have ended differently if he'd been out there for an extended period of time.

@Bloom : Tho if he ended up past 59, he could have pulled out there by the bridges if he was in trouble - no lack of people in the vicinity to help him contact people even if his phone was dead. Must not have been familiar with 59 either, to get that lost!

That would've been me if I were kayaking. I have no sense of direction 😅. Glad he was found safe and sound.
