Parents Face Murder Charges After Cleveland-Area RV Fire Killed Two Children The Liberty County Fire Marshal's Office has confirmed murder charges against the parents of two young siblings who died in an RV fire near Cleveland. The children died Tuesday morning, August 11th, inside a camper on County Road 3819 in Liberty County. Their grandfather identified them as a 3-year-old boy and his 2-year-old sister. Meaghan Michell Herrod, 30, of Shepherd, and Matthew Allen Chambers, 39, of Cleveland, each face two counts of murder. Bond was set at $500,000 for each count, totaling $1 million per parent. The fire completely destroyed the RV. The children's bodies were taken to the Jefferson County Medical Examiner's Office for autopsies. Authorities have not publicly explained the circumstances behind the murder charges. Herrod and Chambers are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

I never understood how parents could leave such young children alone. Such a sad situation.
