New Caney Convention Center Officially Named "Caney Pines" as December Opening NearsThe East Montgomery County Improvement District has officially announced "Caney Pines" as the name of its new convention center in Valley Ranch. The 210,070-square-foot venue is now entering its final phase of construction, with a grand opening celebration planned for December. The $159 million Caney Pines Convention Center is located in the Valley Ranch Entertainment District and is expected to become the third-largest convention center in the Houston area and seventh-largest in Texas. Plans include a 55,000-square-foot ballroom and exhibition hall, 20,000 square feet of meeting space, a commercial kitchen, outdoor patio space and an attached 811-space parking garage. Event bookings for 2027 are already underway. The name "Caney Pines" was chosen to reflect the area's logging history, wooded landscape and the early community that eventually became New Caney.
