$7.25 Million Old Houston Road Expansion Set to Begin in New Caney
Construction is scheduled to begin August 31st on the first phase of a major widening project along Old Houston Road in New Caney. The approximately $7.25 million project will expand a 0.8-mile section of Old Houston Road from two lanes to four lanes, beginning at Hwy. 242 and extending south.
Planned improvements also include a continuous turn lane, a new bridge over Dry Creek and new roadside drainage ditches. The work is expected to take about a year and represents the first segment of a larger three-phase plan to widen Old Houston Road between Hwy. 242 and FM 1314. Funding for the project comes from Montgomery County's voter-approved $480 million road bond.
