Splendora Man Indicted in Fatal I-69 Hit-and-Run Case Near New C
Splendora Man Indicted in Fatal I-69 Hit-and-Run Case Near New Caney A Montgomery County grand jury indicted 35-year-old Jeremy Michael Buckner, of Splendora, on August 4th in connection with a deadly hit-and-run investigation along I-69. According to authorities, Splendora police responded on May 7th, 2026, after pedestrian Gary Belvin was found deceased beside the I-69 feeder road just south of FM 2090. Investigators believe Belvin was struck by a vehicle that allegedly left the scene. Detectives with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office and Splendora Police Department reportedly identified a Chevrolet Colorado believed to have been involved and later identified Buckner as the alleged driver. Deputies subsequently located Buckner near the area of the original incident and took him into custody. Buckner was indicted on a charge of Collision Involving Death, a second-degree felony. The Texas Department of Public Safety and Montgomery County District Attorney's Office also assisted with the investigation. An indictment and charge are allegations, and Buckner is presumed innocent unless proven guilty through the legal process.
