119 Grams of Fentanyl Seized During Traffic Stop

A traffic stop in the Porter area near New Caney led to the arrest of a Conroe man and the seizure of approximately 119 grams of suspected fentanyl, according to the Montgomery County Precinct 4 Constable's Office.

Officials said a deputy stopped a gold Ford traveling northbound on FM 1314 around 2 PM on July 25th. The driver was identified as 38-year-old Marquis Joshua Woods. During the investigation, deputies reportedly found a container holding multicolored pills in various shapes and sizes. Authorities allege Woods resisted while being detained, grabbed the container and threw it into a nearby ditch in an attempt to destroy evidence. Deputies recovered the container and took Woods into custody after a brief struggle.

Precinct 4 said the pills produced a positive field-test result for fentanyl and weighed approximately 119 grams. Woods was booked into the East Montgomery County Jail on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Tampering with Physical Evidence and Resisting Arrest, Search or Transportation.

An arrest and charge are allegations, and the case will proceed through the legal process.
