New Caney: MCSO Cold Case Unit Identifies Remains of Missing Juvenile
The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office says human remains have been identified as those of Kristen Marie Galvan, a missing juvenile reported in 2020. According to MCSO, Kristen was reported missing by her grandfather on January 2nd, 2020, after he discovered she was not in her bedroom. Investigators later determined she was last seen on Bissonnet Street in Houston, with her last known contact reported on January 9th, 2020.
Authorities said Kristen's case involved several agencies over the years, including the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Human Trafficking Unit, the FBI and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. MCSO also said she had been listed as a victim in multiple Houston Police Department sex trafficking investigations and was a key witness in a federal investigation involving members of "The Sauce Factory" organization. Kristen's case has been widely publicized and was also featured in an episode of the Paramount series "Never Seen Again," titled "Kristen Galvan: Bissonnet Street, Part 2," which aired on August 8th, 2023.
The case was reassigned to the MCSO Cold Case Unit on February 27th, 2025. After a lead connected to unidentified remains and advanced DNA testing, the Texas Office of the Attorney General's Cold Case and Missing Persons Unit confirmed on Tuesday, July 28th, 2026, that the remains were positively identified as Kristen Galvan.
MCSO said the investigation remains ongoing.
Anyone with information about Kristen Galvan's disappearance or death is asked to contact the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Cold Case Unit or the Texas Attorney General's Cold Case and Missing Persons Unit.
