I used to get that exact special at Monterey's Little Mexico in Humble. It was a perfect portion for lunch. Yes, it looks like a lot of food, but when compared to 3 enchiladas or a big ole 🌯 it's really not. So glad you and your DH enjoyed it. 😊

It's my favorite! I love that there's guac with it. I'll sometimes order something that has enchiladas, etc, but I can't eat it all.

Exactly. By the time you eat the chips & salsa, your plate of enchiladas comes with rice & beans. It's really a lot of food. 🥴

@MsMuffet : You've reminded me that I used to enjoy lunch at the Monterey House back in the '80s. There were several franchise locations around Houston. I wonder why they disappeared. They were always busy...at least at lunchtime.

Oh my gosh that looks so good! I still have never tried them. I have heard wonderful things about them, but have yet to make it. Trying to cut back on eating out unless I have a GC at the moment. Other expenses/priorities right now

Yes, I haven't been there in maybe 20 years. I think the one in Humble may still be open. 🤔

@MsMuffet : I did an online search, and it appears that the Monterey House franchise closed back in the '80s.

The one in Humble is called Monterrey Little Mexico now. I think it used to be Monterrey, but not sure.
