I had no idea that Battleship Texas was this huge!

@Cbear : Oh, yeah - several times. We lived in the Deer Park area from 1969 - 1978. It was almost in our backyard then. We've gone a couple of times in recent years, taking out of town company there, before it was moved. I'd love to tour it after it's been re-furbished, but don't think I could do the necessary climbing now.

Cbear : Oh, yeah - several times. We lived in the Deer Park area from 1969 - 1978. It was almost in our backyard then. @Bloom : So..do you feel this picture is pretty accurate on size? I mean, I know it is dry docked and all which makes it look bigger of course.

I found a couple of pics from the last time we took our son & his family there about 10 years ago, but the pics were more people than ship. When it was at the San Jac battleground, much of that hull was in the water, so it didn't seem that tall. But we toured it, including having to climb ladders to get to different levels. Believe me, it's big! If you ever get the chance to tour it, you should.

@Cbear : I didn't realize it was that big either. We went when we first got married, but that's been a long time ago so I can't even remember it.

@Sweetie : I've never seen it in person but my kids did on a school field trip. I loved field trips in school!

@Bloom : I would but like you ...climbing is a challenge. I mean..I can go up and down the stairs in my house but I bet I would have to do alot more climbing on that ship. This girl needs to get in shape!
