Where is the Bayou of the Buffalo Fish? We must be looking west but from what vantage point - an airplane? Must have been nice back then - no freeways, no traffic. Looks lovely. The tallest buildings were what? The Gulf building and the Esperson Building??

@otto : I guess I could if I was that curious. I wonder when A/C was invented both in homes and vehicles. Maybe Houston was not as hot then as it is now.

@Cbear : A/C in autos was unknown until the '60s. I'm sure there were few, if any, air conditioners in Houston back in '38. But there were probably plenty of homes with "swamp coolers."

@otto : I've heard of those and the huge recessed ceiling fans.
