@Cbear : Corkball -- Two person game. The "ball" was a medical-taped thermos cork which you'd try to hit with a stick-bat. The pitcher could put "English" on the cork by snapping his middle finger as he released the underhand pitch. Distance the ball traveled determined single-double-triple-homer. If your opponent caught the cork, it was an out, just like baseball. Three strikes would also be an out.

Mother may I

DH lived out in the country - way out in the country - no neighbors - and he had an older sister who was 6 years older, and a younger sister who was 6 years younger. So he often played alone. One of his favorite games was batting rocks with a stick. of course, he always won - he was just curious which rock went the farthest. Some of his cousins told me of a game he invented for when they visited, They would play kick the can out in the pasture, and had to follow his rules.
