My yard guy told me today my huge magnolia tree is not coming back. I was hoping it would resurrect from the dead but it's not. I hate cutting it down. It was 30 years old. But this winter just took its life. I think I'm going to replace it with another one I loved it. I have a quite a few dead plants and bushes that he's got to remove. I think I'm going to replace those with Azalea. They seem to do well. Anyone else lose their plants or flowers and what are you replacing them with?

@Sweetie :
Sorry about your Magnolia. Seems the summer was hard on them - I've noticed several in our area that look dead. Our lawn was the only thing that was hit hard. Hopefully it will eventually look better.

@Bloom : I didn't mean winter I meant summer took its toll on my tree. It was just too much for the magnolia tree.it was about 25 -30 ft tall .

@Sweetie :
It's so sad to lose a big tree. It's like losing a best friend. There's a house close to us with 2 huge Magnolias in the front yard that look dead. That yard is going to look so empty when they're gone.

@Bloom : my neighbor also has two huge magnolia trees, and they are dead dead dead. I hate it when they die because they produce so many magnolia and I could walk out the front door and just smell it. It smelled so good.

@Sweetie : I failed. I am stingy on water as you know and I kept hearing people say that St. Augustine will come back. Nope. I am proof of that so I will probably need to re sod and then....I have to water the daylights out of it so I learned a hard lesson.
