Celebrate the new school year at the annual EMCID Back to School Bash on Tuesday, September 10.
EMCID hosts the free festival every year to bring the community together after the summer break, and help get the school year started on the right foot.
"This event is such a fun way for EMCID to give back to the community with free school supplies and celebrate the beginning of a new school year," said Sandy Seelye, Special Events Coordinator for EMCID. "There will be plenty of things for kids of all ages to do and make. Also, be sure to visit the vendor booths for other goodies and candy."
During the event, EMCID board members will hand out free school supplies to students attending kindergarten through eighth grade.
Guests have the chance to enjoy a bevy of free activities such as games, rides, the Ferris wheel and pick up swag from local businesses. New to the event this year is a mobile mining activity where kids will receive a bag of sand with gemstones then run it through water and a strainer to get the gemstones.
There will also be a spin art station to create a masterpiece on a frisbee, make a key chain with the New Caney ISD or Splendora ISD calendars on one side and take a ride on the mechanical bull.
Concessions will be available at a nominal cost.
No pre-registration is required. Supplies will be given out on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The fun kicks off at 5 p.m. and lasts until 8 p.m. in the EMCID parking lot located at 21575 U.S. Highway 59; parking is at New Caney ISD Annex.
