Where's the DANG BBQ? I mean really? I have been in the area since about 1995 and I think there are less rather than more "Q" places (Oh and I still miss the Porter HEB). Not too long ago (6 years?) there was a trailer set up by the High School on 494- you could go there and get a RACK of ribs- $10 or so. So yeah when I am talking BBQ I mean, like,- lots of BBQ. None of this chopped beef sandwich stuff.

There was a food truck/ trailer at that Quick Stop at the exit of Roman Forest on the west side of 59. But they sold sausage. G-R-E-A-T- if I had a sausage cravin. But what about some good Q?

Why do you have to go to Cleveland just to get some Q? I would almost be ready to bite the bullet and go into Kingwood (gasp), yes Kingwood to get BBQ, if there was a decent Q place. But trip adviser doesn't list any there either. SO WHAT'S THE DEAL? I am open to suggestions...

Hint: If you are gonna give me suggestions (and I am soliciting) please mention a place say- Splendora etc..., or Cleveland..., . Please don't give me alternative realities such as: if those four Kingwood cheerleaders had opened a Q place they could have made $$, instead of robbing businesses/banks/etc...

I recently moved to the area, Kingwood actually, and have also been wondering why there isn't any good BBQ to be had.

Thanks for the Cleveland tip! Seems there are a number of well reviewed joints up there to check out.

But yeah, don't come to Kingwood, unless you want to be sadly disappointed.

I work in New Caney, live in Livingston and when I have a hankering for some good bbq I stop at Bailey's in Cleveland for take out on the way home. Even had them cater our last business meeting for about 20 people at a hotel near them and not a single complaint to be had yet.

Okay, after all the musing of what's hot and what's not, I found a simple crock pot recipe to keep the "Jones" down. Simple, easy, not too expensive. I use the "true" Texan technique of taking the bun top, removing a bunch of bread (before toasting) and then putting extra slaw, pickles or "Q" in the space.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
