Good morning!! I'm canning peaches today!

@Butterfrei : My mom used to can a lot of peaches! One year she and a friend even canned the peelings. They made a good pie. She also canned 'pickled peaches'. Have you ever had pickled peaches?

I have not had pickled peaches. But to be honest, I don't even like pickles 🤮😝I will say, canning peaches was the hardest thing I've canned so far!!!🫪

If I remember right, the pickled peaches were peeled, but the seed was left inside. They weren't overly sweet, and I remember there being what I think was whole cloves in the liquid. Pretty unique taste, but I loved them. Tagging @MooMaw: Do you remember pickled peaches?

Absolutely! We called them spiced peaches and absolutely delicious! Momma always made them. Yes, tasted of cloves. It did not have a "pickle " taste. I wished I had paid more attention to mommas cooking.🥹

Delmonte sold a version of spice peaches a while back but can no longer find them. We had them especially during the holidays.
I will go on a search and will let you know if I come across them again.
Edit….i just googled and it shows Kroger sells in a can. May not taste like mommas but might be worth a try. They are called harvest peaches.

Nice quiet day. Smoked a pork butt for pulled pork sandwiches.

@MooMaw : I'm going to look at Kroger. Now that I'm thinking about them, I want some! My mom was a good cook, but I don't remember seeing recipes. She just made meals with what was available. Oh, and thanks fir the generous tip!
