Auto body repair help needed! DDs had a fender bender today. They are okay, but the car is not. Do you guys have an auto body shop that you recommend in the area? TIA.

botanylover : My goodness! Glad to hear no one was hurt. I only have experience with one place, and it was ok for the most part. When I got a hit and run at the Home Depot parking lot in Porter, our insurance used Service King in Humble to make the repairs. The right side of my SUV's back door was pushed in. I'm guessing it was a huge truck that backed into my car, so much so that it moved it and put a huge deep dent in my back door. Anywho, Service King (SK) took about a week to get it all repaired. Communication was great with insurance and SK throughout the whole process. I just paid the deductible to SK. When I got my car back, everything looked fine until I got home. I have a dashcam installed and we tucked in all the cables behind the trim. Well, SK didn't tucked the cables at all so my rear camera was just dangling. SK has a policy about reviews and feedback, in that if you're not 100% satisfied, they discourage leaving anything less than 5 stars. In case of an issue, to contact them. Well, this was around the busy holiday market season and I didn't feel like emptying my car to take it there so they can tuck in the cables. So I just never left a review or said anything.

The other place I've heard of is Kenneth's on Northpark but they're always ultra busy. So my advice (based on my experience) would be to have your DD talk to her insurance company and see who they do business with and go from there. Maybe they do use SK or Kenneth. I wish her good luck with all that!

garfieldgurl : Ok. Perfect. Thank you so much for letting me know your experience. Our insurance does business with certain shops around town, so maybe we will look into that first. I know Kenneth's has a coupon on the NC website and advertises here, so it would be nice to support them.

That is a horrible story about the hit and run. I am so sorry! You know the driver knew he ran into you! 😢

botanylover : I'm not sure, however, you do have a choice. I try not to deal with an insurance recommended shop. I'm afraid they will cut corners for the insurance company. Just my thoughts.

botanylover : You're welcome and thank you 🙂. I think he did. I wonder if it was because I had a CA sticker and he was just hating on CA "migrants", which I am 😁. It wasn't an obvious one, just a sticker from a drumming group I belonged to and had the name of the city. Since then, I scraped it off to avoid this from happening again, or at least lessen the chances.

Garfieldgurl : I would hope no one feels that way about CA "migrants". It's terrible what has happened to CA. Whatever your reason for coming to Texas, (even if you've been here a while now), WELCOME!

Sweetie : Yes. They are local and do much for the community. But I must say that Kenneth's was a lifesaver for me when my CATalytic converter was stolen.

garfieldgurl : Sad to feel that you need to do that, but I understand.

Kacey82 : Aww, thank you! Moved to Houston in the Fall of 2018 with my husband (then fiancé) because he was tired of CA. I didn't mind it, though 😝. But our whole families are still there so we get to visit. He gave me 3 choices: Houston, Denver or Boise. I said no cold places, please 🥶. Houston was the only choice 😁
