CONCERNING SANTEK WASTE:
 
So we get a letter from our "new" garbage company SANTEK. The letter is dated December 1 but doesn't arrive until December 24th. Here is what it says:
 
"Dear Valued Customer, Last month, as part of the President's Climate Action Plan, the US Environmental Protection Agency issued a final standard further reducing methane gas emissions from landfills. Historically, SANTEK Waste Services has absorbed costs related to existing regulations.
 
However, we will implementing a Regulatory Cost Recovery Charge, effective at the next billing cycle, to help recover the expense of the new regulations. This charge allows us to cover our company-wide costs associated with current regulatory requirements. The percentage of the fee MAY BE CHANGED AT THE DISCRETION of Santek Waste Services based on the cost associated with implementing new regulations."
 
For those of you who ended up with Santek after Riverside owners sold out, how do you feel about this? Just how much money are we going to be charged on top of the $30 per month? What do you think about the statement that they may change the percentage of this added charge AT THE DISCRETION of the company? This is way too vague for me so I will be looking for a new service. They never pick my trash up like they are supposed to anyway. SMH, government OVERREACH.
 
RECOMMENDATIONS WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

It's just the same old, same old. The gov't made me do it. Every time a utility type service says they have to raise rates because of something the gov't passes I think to myself, "Well, it's not like you would voluntarily tighten the ship from an environmental standpoint." And, it's not like they won't pass on the cost. They are a for-profit entity. Of course they are going to raise their rates after they took over Riverside. It's what always happens when there is an ownership change. And, of course it's at their discretion. They own the company. This is just business as usual.
 
I think Republic Waste Services is still in business in this area; you might like them better. Let us know what you choose; many more might want to switch. If enough people switch, they might just lower rates.

@jansworld All for profit companies pass along all government charges. Your option is to find another company which pass along the same charges but still be cheaper and allot more on schedule. One never knows when they will show up.
If you don't like Obama's liberal policy charges contact your Senators and House representatives. The only place that will change that policy charge. Unless of course President Trumps eliminates another of Obama's laws of the pen. Which might just happen on 1-20-2017 hopefully in his first Presidential order making all of Obama pen power gone.

@gunnerb47 Doesn't matter what Trump does now. They grabbed their money ASAP before Trump being put into office. Don't know of any company lowering their increases, for any reason. I may change also. They NEVER pickup on time. I don't think they have enough drivers to service all their patrons. Terrible, terrible service.

In last 4 weeks alone, and suppose to pick up twice weekly, they have picked up our garbage 1 time! That's just within last month not even mentioning previous 11 months they've missed. Yet call and leave message for supervisor to call and that's ignored too, or simply told by desk clerk it will be picked up on next service day but refuse any type of credit for missed service. But they damn sure want FULL PAYMENT on bill each quarter. Then we get postcard stating our pick up dates will now be Tues and Fri which I find hilarious since that has always been our pick up days for years. I'm feeling a class action lawsuit coming - too may people getting same treatment from the unprofessional company. Wish Riverside never sold to them, they valued their customers.

@kjs914 Oh dear Emoticon Out of curiosity I looked at their reviews on "The Yellow Pages". Their customers seem to be having a real hard time of it.
 
I thought you might find this interesting. It speaks to the recent focus of the company I believe.
 
The nearly 30-year-old company currently operates in nine states throughout the Southeast and has been steadily expanding with acquisitions over the past year...In a statement announcing the deals, Santek said it aims to continue expansion in existing markets and is actively looking for more independent haulers with an interest in selling. This follows recent regional acquisitions of other companies in states such as Florida, Indiana and Illinois.

If they are in hot pursuit of buying people out, (Waste Management did that in it's early days like a fiend!) then they might not be focusing so much on customer support. I don't know if you can get them to refocus if that is what's happening unless you go way up the ladder. Maybe multiple letters from you and other residents sent to the top.
 
It's frustrating, VERY frustrating when you're basically being ignored. Even their Google reviews are filled with bad reviews. I know most people won't post unless it's a complaint but that many very negative reviews across the board like that..wow Emoticon
 
A class-action lawsuit would get their attention probably Emoticon

@jansworld @jansworld I stopped using them they were getting to much and they don't pick up heavy trash and they only pick up one can.Went with another company that is fairly new but cheap and has better service.
