Wal-Mart To Open In New Caney

I'm sure y'all have seen the construction (pictured above) just south of 1485 next to the highway. It's going to be a Wal-Mart Supercenter...And it's on schedule to open this summer.

The new Walmart Supercenter coming to 20310 US 59 in New Caney will be 182,000 square feet â€“ which is the average size of any Walmart Supercenter.

"Construction began last fall and we are planning to begin serving customers this summer", said Wal-Mart Representative Anne Hatfield. "We will announce a hiring center location soon for interested job applicants."

The New Caney Walmart Supercenter will offer a full line of affordable, fresh produce and groceries, including organic and natural selections, in addition to local favorites.

The store will also feature quality, value-priced general merchandise, including health & beauty items, baby & pet supplies, toys & games, electronics, sporting goods, apparel, household items and lawn and garden items.

In addition, customers will find a garden center, a tire and lube express and a fuel station. Our full-service Walmart pharmacy will have a convenient drive-thru and offer a full range of products and services including our popular $4 generic prescriptions. Walmart pharmacy team members can answer product and prescription questions and customers can ask about health and wellness solutions.

Sidenote: According to Anne, there are no plans of the Porter War-Mart closing as some have speculated. Their (Wal-Mart's) research showed that we were in need of one of our own.

I actually love this. When I used to live in New Caney, my ex husband, ex brother in-law, and I used to walk to the Porter Walmart all the time. It's was a very long walk especially in the summer time when the temp was up in the 90s and 100s.

I am so excited about this new addition to new caney!!! I am an employee at the porter location and we have a huge customer base!! There are many folks that come as far as Cleveland to shop with us and im sure they will be happy to save time and gas being able to shop alittle closer to home. I would absolutely love to be apart of the amazing team that will run this new store, it is also closer to my home. Guess we'll have to wait and see,either way this is going to be awesome!!!

While the side note may say their not planning on closing I still have doubts for the future. Their is no doubt that porter location will lose money. I also enjoy having a walmart closer but the selection is not broad & I still go to porter majority of the time.

Walmart needs signage for the southbound exit. By the time you realize that the Walmart is there, you've already passed the exit.

I live in New Caney and have for 21 years I love the new Walmart and the Kroger's now if they would get a Home Depot I would never have to go to Porter.
