DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL - DPS - New Caney Job

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) has responsibility for providing daily instruction, training and supervision, to deliver quality services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and those needing similar services. The Direct Support Professional may conduct training in a variety of areas, to include, but not limited to, arts/crafts, exercise, field trips, and other various group activities. Priority will be placed on matching the DSP to their area of expertise, interests and skills. This may include one-on-one care duties. The focus of the duties will sometimes depend on the specific training program and will require hands on teaching, demonstration, group activities and field trips as appropriate. Community engagement and interaction is highly stressed as appropriate and available.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High-school diploma or GED. Some college work preferred.
Experience: One year of experience working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities or those needing similar services is preferred.
Special Training/ Skills: Excellent verbal, communication and writing skills.
Licensure/ Certification: CPR required upon hire and annually thereafter. Valid Texas Drivers License in good standing.
OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE: Category II

Skills Required:
