Almost 4 Tons Of Documents Shredded
Residents and business owners from East Montgomery County and neighboring communities took advantage of Shred It EMC, a free document shredding event last Saturday, May 7 sponsored by the East Montgomery County Improvement District. Over 7,500 lbs of documents were shredded at the event.
A steady stream of cars and SUVs drove through the EMCID parking lot and opened up their trunks to Iron Mountain Shredding Services. The shredding crew discarded the documents and files into large trash cans and then wheeled them over to a lift at a commercial-sized shredder built into a large truck. Some people got out of their vehicles to watch the process from a monitor on Iron Mountain’s truck that showed the papers being shredding. The truck can hold up to 10,000 pounds of shredded documents; by the end of the 4-hour event, the truck was at about three-quarters capacity.
“We’re glad we could do this for the community. With the feedback we received at the event, it sounds like it was needed and greatly appreciated,” said Frank McCrady, EMCID President and CEO.
EMCID plans on sponsoring this event again next spring.
