Armed Robbery in New Caney
On Sunday, October 18, 2015, at approximately 5:25 AM, Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division and Police Officers from the City of Patton Village Police Department were dispatched to a robbery that had occurred at the Flying J Travel Plaza located in the 23400 block of State Highway 242, in New Caney, Texas.
Upon law enforcement arrival, it was reported that a male approached the manager and a maintenance employee in the plaza office. Reportedly the male suspect brandished a small semi- automatic handgun and demanded money from the safe. The manager handed money to the suspect that was available at that time. During the robbery, the male fired a single shot into the floor of the location, causing the manager to receive minor injuries in her left arm, from the ricochet of bullet fragments. A witness reported the male suspect possibly fled the location in a small black passenger car in an unknown direction. The suspect was described as a white male, between 40 to 50 years of age, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, camouflaged ball cap with ear flaps tied under his chin, and blue jeans. Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Units and Patton Village Police Department Units responded to the location but were unable to locate the suspect. Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Units and Patton Village Police Department Detectives responded to the locations. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
