Deputies Extra Busy On National Night Out
National Night Out events are becoming more and more common in the East Montgomery County area. Tuesday, Oct. 4th, the official National Night Out for our area, Pct. 4 deputies attended local community parties, played games, showed off high-water rescue vehicles & patrol cars, and talked about community policing to area residents.
As the parties were wrapping up, the deputies hit the streets for their normal patrol shifts.
The first call came in just after 8pm. A shoplifter was being detained at the Tobacco Barn in New Caney, TX. An investigation showed that a store employee was caught taking boxes of cartons of cigarettes from the location. Elizabeth Griffith (30, New Caney), who is actually the manager of the Tobacco Barn, was arrested for the alleged felony theft.
Pct. 4 then learned the whereabouts of several wanted felons, so they headed over to the 20900 block of Shakey Hollow in Conroe. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with Melissa Strahan (36, Conroe) and asked her for the whereabouts of Edward King (35, New Caney) and Angela Pogue (44, New Caney). Strahan told deputies they were recently there but had just left. Strahan allowed deputies to check inside her residence just to make sure. Deputies didn’t locate the wanted felons, but instead found a bag containing approximately 86 grams of methamphetamine on the kitchen counter. Also in the residence was a shot gun and a large glass bong containing a water and methamphetamine mixture.
Strahan then told deputies the wanted felons were hiding next door in a mobile home. All were taken into custody.
Strahan faces a 1st degree felony charges of manufactory/deliver of a controlled substance, as well as a 3rd degree felony charge of Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. Both Pogue and King were arrested for their outstanding felony warrants.
